About CPO Insights

Market intelligence and commercial briefings informed by senior procurement leadership.

CPO Insights examines the market forces, regulatory changes and commercial decisions that shape organisational spend. Published by Ipso Facto Consulting Limited, it draws on more than twenty years of procurement and commercial leadership across the public and private sectors.

Our briefings explore supplier markets, purchasing decisions and the implications of different commercial models. They help procurement and finance teams, budget holders, executive leaders and investors assess risk, challenge assumptions and understand what a commercial commitment means for their organisation.

The experience behind the analysis

CPO Insights is authored by Ajay Channana, founder of Ipso Facto Consulting Limited. His experience spans senior procurement and commercial leadership across the NHS, local government, the Civil Service and higher education, alongside private-sector advisory work.

Ajay has held direct accountability for multi-million-pound spend portfolios, procurement transformation and high-value enterprise negotiations. That responsibility informs the questions asked in each briefing: whether a business case is sound, how supplier terms affect cost and control, and what it takes to sustain performance after a contract is signed.

Our thinking

A commercial commitment has consequences beyond the purchase.

We examine the relationship between the market a supplier operates in, the terms an organisation accepts and the performance it needs over the life of a contract.

Our briefings connect market dynamics with the decisions commercial leaders face: cost and control, continuity and resilience, compliance and accountability. They provide context for informed judgement and the questions that deserve closer examination.

Sector and category coverage

Our coverage reflects the markets in which we have led procurement and advised organisations. It includes IT and digital transformation, professional and corporate services, and the supplier relationships that support enterprise operations.

In healthcare and commissioned services, we cover clinical consumables, medical devices and capital equipment, home care and the different commercial models used to deliver frontline services. These markets bring distinct questions about quality, continuity, capacity and accountability.

We also cover facilities management, transportation and logistics, supply chains and warehousing.
