Advisory Services
Commercial intelligence for a specific question
When a published briefing is not enough, we research the market, the suppliers and the commercial models behind a particular purchase, investment or market entry, and set out what the evidence shows.
Who we work with
Procurement and commercial teams
If you are preparing a major procurement, a contract renewal or a challenge to a supplier proposal, and need to understand the supplier market before committing.
We provide a review of the market behind the purchase: who competes and how strongly, how prices and commercial models are moving, which suppliers are combining, entering or leaving, and which contract terms carry cost after signature.
Investors and acquirers
If you are assessing a company that sells to the public sector or into regulated markets, and need an independent view of the market it depends on.
We provide an assessment of market size and growth, demand drivers, competitive position, customer concentration and the buying behaviour that will shape future revenue.
Organisations entering or expanding in the UK
If you are planning to sell to the NHS or the wider UK public sector, and need to understand how demand is organised before investing in a route to market.
We provide an overview of UK demand, the organisations that buy, the competitors already selling, market size and share, and the rules and buying routes that apply.
Market review and assessment
If you are responsible for a market or category that is changing, and need developments explained as they happen.
We provide scheduled briefings on the markets that matter to your organisation, covering acquisitions, regulation, price movements and supplier risk, written for senior leaders and boards.
The experience behind the work
Our advisory work is led by Ajay Channana, who has more than twenty years of senior procurement and commercial leadership across the NHS, local government, the Civil Service and higher education, alongside private-sector advisory work.
He has held direct accountability for multi-million-pound spend portfolios, procurement transformation programmes and high-value enterprise negotiations, and led the implementation of the Procurement Act 2023 in an NHS organisation. Each assignment draws on that experience of the buying side: how decisions are made, where cost sits after signature, and what suppliers expect from their customers.
What an engagement can include
Commissioned research
Research on a market, supplier, category or investment question that published material does not cover in enough depth.
Executive briefings
Private briefings for boards, investment committees and senior leadership teams, centred on the implications and the choices that need attention.
Workshops
Sessions for procurement teams, executives and investors, built around a market development, a supplier landscape or a decision in front of them.
Speaking engagements
Talks for conferences, industry bodies and leadership events on supplier markets, procurement and the commercial forces behind organisational spend.
Commission a briefing
Tell us the market, the question you need answered and when you need the answer. We will reply with what a briefing would cover.
